Illustration Friday - Unbalanced

Sometimes life can feel so unbalanced. Day job VS art career. To bring some things back into perspective, I decided to finally put to paper an idea I have had in my head for over two years...

Here is my first collage piece ever! So totally off balance from what I normally do. It's hard to put into words how different it felt making this piece compared to my watercolor paintings. A different kind of energy. I loved doing the main piece in my normal painterly way and then modifying it to work with the background I created.

I must say I really did love making this angel. I have a feeling there will be a lot more of these. I'm hoping that stepping outside of my comfort zone will help to restore some balance in my head and keep me motivated to pursue my dreams!

I was very flattered to be invited to join a group called Watercolor Wednesdays. They have weekly challenges and seem like a great group of artists. This was my first post to the blog. This week was to create a character or your own wild thing. I thought I would post her to my blog as well. I really like the colors on this one.

As my girls are getting older, sometimes it feels like the years are flying by in a blur. Thank goodness they are no where near 16 yet!

This is the first of a series I am working on for birthday cards. I was going to do ages 1 through 5, but drew this girl when I was sketching ideas for another project. I really liked her and wanted to incorporate her in to the series. I'm not too sure about the colors though. I might have to re-think this one. For now though, it was fun to paint and I did learn about some new color combos I tried.
